New plants

I finally got to the nursery this weekend and bought some herbs and some organic soil amendment to use while we are waiting for our compost to be usable. I'll do some planting as soon as the weather is better.

  1. Some students have sowed fava beans and sweet peas (for beneficial insects and cuttings) in 3 inch pots. They are in my classroom and can be transplanted as soon as the lovely rains stop.

Thanks to Gabriel and Amanda for helping me turn the compost last week!

  2. I also went to the nursery and have some things we may want to plant soon. The students have started in small pots some tomatoes and basil. These baby plants are doing well and will be ready to plant in the garden soon. I also boughts some garlic and onion bulbs, zinnia, cilantro, peppers, sunflowers, lettuce and radishes. My students also made some markers with the names of all the seeds we have so we can know where we planted things. Let's coordinate when we should start planting for spring.
    Great blog Ms. Devine!
